Sharing Backyards

Transition Guelph is excited to be part of a new and fast-growing initiative that started in Victoria B.C. and is spreading rapidly across the world!

Sharing Backyards is a co-operative program that connects people who have unused yard space with others who wish to garden but don't have the space to do so. The Sharing Backyards website and map facilitates the getting-together of would-be gardeners and those with available garden space. Owners and gardeners can then meet and establish their own arrangements concerning conditions of use of the space, times, and sharing of the produce. It's a win-win situation: gardeners can garden, owners can enjoy the beauty of growing things in their yard and the knowledge that the space is being put to good use, and both can share in the bounty. If you have a garden and want to share it with someone, or if you are looking for a space to garden, Sharing Backyards is for you!

Sharing Backyards is non-profit, 100% volunteer-organized and run.

The Guelph Sharing Backyards program is just getting started! If you have a yard you wish to share or want to garden, update the map. It's easy: just click on the "Add new listing" button at the upper right of the map. If you are looking for garden space this coming growing season, please add a listing for yourself as well, and check back frequently.
